I must say, this was a total cover buy! I even hid the book behind some other books at the used book store I shop at hoping it would still be there the next day when I went back up there. I can say that this book isn't awful, but it wasn't great either. It had a lot of dry moments and some laughs in there too.
I liked the great aunt (where I giggled/laughed the most really). I think she was quirky and quite funny. To say she was off her rocker, well, I think that walker was cracked in a few places. That's one of the things that did make me like her. The grandmother was pushy and annoying most of the time but she loved her granddaughter even though she didn't always show it. Lenora, who worked at the bakery, was sweet, although she didn't show up in the story as much as I would have liked to see her.
There was a love interest that the family was trying to push on Jillian. Take note of the trying to push on her part. His name was Hunter and although he didn't show up much in the book, I did like him, even when his quirky moments came up.
This is a book that I pretty much had the killer in my sight. It was between two people really but my focus was mainly on that one; it was just too obvious. Yes, I had my doubts here and there but once they were taken out of the picture, I narrowed back in on that one. There was one part that really got me focusing in on her even more than what I saw as obvious before it happened but of course, that slight doubt did creep as said before. I really don't like it when I can figure out the killer early on in the book but at least I can say that she gave me some level of doubt, even for a moment.
When I looked up the book to find a picture for this blog, I did see there were two other books (not sure if they are out or not). I am not quite so sure I am going to go out of my way to get them. I saw that the second book was possibly written by another author and the third was done by Jan Fields. I don't seem to wild about her writing so I don't know if I'd go after the third if I did read the second.
Click Annie's Fiction Website to visit the website and see what they have to offer. This is not sponsored. I saw the website at the end of the book and thought I would share it for those that may be interested in this book and maybe others. Please, do not take my review as a way to say you won't read it, as we all have different tastes. Where it may not have been a favorite for me, you, the person reading this right now, may love it! Give it a shot.
